Vintage Japanese ‘Mitchel’ Drum Kit Shell Pack
A classic 1960s example of a pre Tama Japanese stencil kit. There were released under various stencil names, predominantly owned by Star (later to become Tama)
Philippine mahogany shells
Brushed steel wrap in good condition overall for the age. There are some clear patches mostly on the bass and floor tom. These look like scratches in the wrap, but are actually marks under the wrap itself and cannot be felt, nor have damaged the wrap
There kits were notorious for copying American drums and hardware
Bass Drum –
- 20″ x 14″
- Metal with matching inlay
- Rail mount with 2 tom mounts
- Disappearing spurs
- 3 lugs were replaced at somepoint on the underside with slightly shorter lugs , meaning there are 3 extra small (now filled and covered) holes
- Evans reso head with porthole
- Used CS batter head
Toms-
- 12″ x 8″ & 13″ x 9″ hanging toms
- 16″ x 16″ floor tom with legs
- All toms have internal dampeners
- All have original 60s remo sound master reso heads, with heavy use and marks but a nice sentiment to the age
- New Code coated batter heads
Snare Drum-
- 14″ x 5″ deep
- Internal dampener
- New Code coated batter head
- Used reso head and 42 strand wires
- Some light marks to the steel chrome in places
