Robert Brian and myself will be running the next vintage drum day on Sunday the 21st of October
6 hours of talking about and playing vintage drums, with a 2 hour+ masterclass from session drummer Rob Brian.
Here are some details –
Ladies and gentlemen, session drummer Robert Brian and myself would like to offer you the next step in modern day drum masterclasses.
Have you Ever wondered why professional players talk so much about owning a Ludwig 400 snare drum, or a Slingerland Radio King, or why USA drummers love old Premier drum kits??
Well, we are offering you a day where you can come along to the DrumAttic headquarters and see and hear some awesome vintage drums from all over the world. You can check out some of the classic shell designs and be able to hear why certain brands and models of drums remain a must for some working worldwide professional drummers.
DrumAttic – A passion for vintage.
I will be the on hand to give you a tour of my vintage store, workshop and rental items. I will explain the rich history of the drums from the classic USA and UK brands, to some lesser known European brands that you may not have heard of. I have a good stock of vintage snares, kits and cymbals and these will be on site for you to check out, and getting that up and close to this kind of drum gear is a rare enough experience in itself!
Rob Brian – Vintage gear from the drummers perspective.
As well as having Tristan on hand, Robert will perform a 2 hour vintage drum masterclass and be on hand to play on the vintage equipment throughout the day. He will go through the various styles and sounds that each drum kit was to be played in it’s particular decade, and explain how to tune, and use a vintage kit as a supplement to your modern day drum sets. As a busy studio drummer, having a very good understanding of vintage styles & sounds is a very useful tool to have. Being able to reference these drummers and drum sounds is a crucial element in producing creative tracks in a modern day studio environment.
Come along and take a percussive step back in time to revel in the sounds and rhythms of the by-gone era of Dixieland, Be-Bop, Rock ’n’ roll, Pop and Soul.
Cost: £75.00 per person (Spaces are very limited as it will be a small group and very involved)
